THE RUSSIAN GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY WILL BEGIN ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR GRANTS ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2025.
Grants of the Russian Geographical Society are targeted funds provided to individuals and legal entities for conducting fundamental and applied scientific research, implementing educational publishing and (or) media projects (media grants) aimed at achieving the goals and solving the problems of the Society.

THE GRANTS FROM THE REGIONAL BRANCHES OF THE RGS are accepted from September 27 to November 1, 2025;
THE INITIATIVE GRANTS are accepted from September 27 to November 1, 2025;
Any person or organization can apply for a grant. Applications are accepted only through the unified electronic system on the grant.rgo.ru website. Registered users have the right to use it.

aimed at supporting projects initiated by the President of the RGS, members of the Board of Trustees and the Governing Council of the RGS, as well as the boards and commissions of the RGS
GRANTS FROM REGIONAL BRANCHES
aimed at supporting projects submitted by regional branches of the RGS



All grant applications are submitted through the unified electronic system grant.rgo.ru.
Applications for Initiative Grants must include a letter of support from members of the Board of Trustees of the RGS or the Governing Council or a protocol of project nomination from the boards or commissions of the RGS.
Applications for Grants from Regional Branches undergo a preliminary evaluation by regional experts.

- The grant is funded for a period of 1 (one) year
- The name and content of the grant must not coincide with the name and content of any planned research carried out in the organization and financed from the federal budget
- The amount of expenses for salaries of full-time employees should not exceed 65% of the grant amount for the category «Conducting Geographical Research» and 50% for all other categories (including insurance premiums). Transparency of the results of the grant project implementation. Separate reporting materials disclosing the content of the implemented grant project, its goals and objectives, the results obtained, conclusions, photo and video materials, will be posted on the website of the RGS.
- organizational and financial support for a grant project, with the exception of budgetary and non-profit organizations, as well as individuals, for whom a deduction of up to 10% of the amount allocated for financing the grant project is allowed, but not more than 150,000 (one hundred fifty thousand) rubles for non-profit organizations and not more than 50,000 (fifty thousand) rubles for individuals
- creation of audiovisual works within the framework of the implementation of regional and initiative grant projects, with the exception of the creation of official video reports, the cost of creation of which does not exceed 10% of the grant amount
- acquisition of land, construction or repair of permanent field stations, organization and ongoing maintenance of laboratories, libraries and other structural divisions of budgetary or other organizations
- •republication of previously published scientific works, with the exception of editions of classical works accompanied by new scientific commentary and scientific reference apparatus
- acquisition of vehicles and watercraft (both subject and not subject to state registration), as well as any other means and items used for the movement and/or transportation of people, quadcopters, office equipment, computing equipment and components for it, mobile phones (mobile communications equipment), photographic and video equipment
