The new Center of the Russian Geographical Society has started work in the United Arab Emirates. It will become a platform for educational projects, business missions, forums, and cultural events dedicated to Russia.
The audience of the new RGS Center will be residents of the United Arab Emirates and other countries of the Arabian Peninsula. In the context of the UAE’s accession to the BRICS, the opening of the center is seen as an additional factor in the development of humanitarian cooperation with Russia. It is planned to involve representatives of the business community, academic, and cultural spheres of the UAE in the work of the Board of Trustees of the center.
«The opening of the RGS Center in the United Arab Emirates is another step in the development of bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, science, and education. We plan to actively involve young people and children in this activity, both from among local residents and from among Russian compatriots permanently residing in the UAE. Together with the RGS, we have already formed an action plan for the coming year aimed at promoting Russian historical, geographical, and natural heritage in the Middle East,» said Andrey Podskrebov, initiator of the opening and head of the Center of the Russian Geographical Society.

The first event organized by the RGS Center was a round table in Dubai on the topic «Modern Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Teaching the Russian Language». The event included an exhibition-quiz of the RGS «30 Questions on the Geography of Russia». Teachers and experts, parents of students, representatives of the Russian-speaking community took part in the event. In the format of interactive communication and an intellectual quiz, the guests were able to test their knowledge about the natural, cultural, and geographical diversity of our country.
The round table was organized by the RGS Center in the UAE, the Russian House in the UAE, KSORS in the UAE, Community Power Dubai, the educational center «Aist», and the official representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in the UAE, A. D. Bashkin. The event was held with the support of the Russian Embassy in the UAE and the Russian Consulate General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
