On October 3, 2023, a new grant program of the Russian Geographical Society was launched. Applications for initiative grants and grants from the regional branches will be accepted until November 1. The deadline for accepting applications for media grants will be announced later.
The grants of the Russian Geographical Society are targeted funds provided to individuals and legal entities for conducting fundamental and applied scientific research, implementing publishing educational/media projects (media grants) aimed at achieving the goals and solving the tasks of the Russian Geographical Society.
Any person or organization can apply for a grant. Applications are accepted only through the unified electronic system on a special website. It can be used by the registered users.
RGS Grant Categories:
Initiative grants are aimed at supporting projects initiated by the President of the Russian Geographical Society, members of the RGS Board of Trustees and the Governing Council, as well as the RGS boards and commissions.
Grants from regional branches are aimed at supporting projects submitted by regional branches of the Russian Geographical Society.
The RGS media grants are aimed at informational support of the projects of the Russian Geographical Society, as well as projects in the field of popularization of geographical knowledge and the activities of the RGS (independent media grants).
Applications for initiative grants must contain a letter of support from members of the Board of Trustees or the Governing Council of the Russian Geographical Society or a protocol on the nomination of the project from the boards or commissions of the Russian Geographical Society.
Applications for grants from regional branches are subject to preliminary examination by regional experts.
Grant applications for media support of projects of the Russian Geographical Society, as well as applications for independent media grants are considered by the Media Council of the Russian Geographical Society.
