The film festival "Russia has a lot to be proud of" was held as part of the specialized session of the Russian Geographical Society "World of Discoveries" at the All-Russian children's center "Smena". Young geographers presented their films about traveling around our vast and beautiful country to the jury.

In the video contest on the topic of "More than a journey", schoolchildren were invited to talk about trips around Russia with the whole family. The jury evaluated 148 works from Donetsk, Tambov, Sochi, Krasnodar, Khadyzhensk, the Republic of Karelia, and other regions. 15 of the best films were shown at the festival. Their authors were Maria Lozneva from Donetsk, Lilia Betina from Tambov, Tatyana Petrova from Yekaterinburg, Taisiya Punina from Sakhalin, Andrey Gudenko from Karelia, Maxim Belyaev from Almetyevsk, Darina Danilova from Anapa, Alexander Isachenkov from Velikiye Luki, Anna Volgova from Zavyalikha, Anastasia Surzhik from Orenburg, Ekaterina Makarenkova from LNR, Ekaterina Farkhutdinova from Sochi, Sofia Skorobogatova from Khadyzhensk, Yulia Sergeeva from Chuvashia, Sofia Kislyakova from the village of Bokino.

“Before the next video was shown, the audience was asked to answer the question of where the next trip would be. Young geographers determined locations by geographical coordinates, the origin of the name, and natural features. They answered almost all of the questions correctly. Thanks to the participants of the contest, we got acquainted with the most amazing corners of our vast country. Now we know for sure that there is a lot to be proud of in Russia," said session coordinator Elena Lubashevskaya.

The project of specialized sessions "World of Discoveries" has been implemented by the Russian Geographical Society together with the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation since 2015. Every year, gifted students go to the All-Russian and international children's centers "Orlyonok", "Ocean", "Artek", and "Smena".

More than 7,000 young geographers from different regions of Russia have already become participants in the project. The Krasnodar Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society and the Executive Directorate of the Russian Geographical Society are engaged in organizing and conducting specialized sessions "World of Discoveries". The main goal of the large-scale educational project is to preserve and enhance the intellectual potential of Russia.

Recall that the competitive selection of participants for the “World of Discoveries” project started in early March. This year, the journey into the world of geographical sciences within the framework of the RGS project will take place for the 10th time. The educational program of the specialized session includes several modules dedicated to meteorology, ecology, geology, soil science, oceanology, and other disciplines as well as interesting tasks in geography.
