A meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Center of the Russian Geographical Society in Serbia was held in Belgrade on March 21. They discussed the results of the work and achievements, as well as new plans for the organization.

The Center of the Russian Geographical Society in Serbia is one of the most active foreign centers of the RGS. Since 2016, almost 100 exhibitions have been held in the Balkans, 17 scientific and publishing projects have been implemented. In addition, the center organizes venues for the international educational campaign «Geographical Dictation» in Serbia and other countries of the Balkan Peninsula.

During the meeting, an award ceremony was held for the representatives of the RGS Center in Serbia for their contribution to the development of the Russian Geographical Society in the Balkans and in honor of the 180th anniversary of the oldest public organization in Russia.

Artem Manukyan, Vice-President of the Russian Geographical Society, presented Dušan Bayatovich, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the RGS Center in Serbia, with the Small Silver Medal of the RGS; Miroljub Milinčić, Director of the RGS Center in Serbia, with the Small Bronze Medal of the RGS; and Filip Đoković, member of the Board of Trustees, with the Certificate of Merit from the President of the RGS.

The work of the leadership of the RGS Center in Serbia has been repeatedly awarded with Russian awards. In 2021, Dušan Bayatovich and Miroljub Milinčić were awarded the Pushkin Medal by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin for their great contribution to the study and preservation of Russian cultural heritage, the rapprochement and mutual enrichment of the cultures of the peoples of Russia and Serbia. In 2023, their achievements were awarded the badges of the Russian Foreign Ministry «For contribution to international cooperation» and «For Cooperation». 

The Russian Geographical Society continues to unite researchers and enthusiasts around the world, developing the traditions of geographical science and strengthening international relations.
