The Russian Geographical Society announces the start of a selection competition for participation in the session of the ecological and educational camp of the project «Nature Reserve Management of the RGS» on the Baltic Sea coast. Successfully selected young people aged 18 and over will have the opportunity to work on the creation of a specially protected natural area «Coastal Ledge» from September 25 to October 2. Applications are accepted until August 9, 2026.
The meeting place of the session participants is the city of Svetlogorsk. Living conditions: in a guest house, self-catering. The Russian Geographical Society will provide accommodation, meals, a transfer from the pick-up point to the session venue and back, and souvenirs for the winners of the competitive selection. Travel to the meeting place of the group is paid by the participants themselves. The session program includes workshops, lectures, trips to scenic spots, and watching thematic films.
The objectives of the work are to transfer borders from documents to the landscape and create an accurate cartographic basis, assess the condition of the territory, improve the territory to minimize anthropogenic damage, and provide media coverage.
Scientific volunteers (geographers, ecologists, cartographers, geodesists, landscape scientists), environmental and media volunteers are wanted to participate in the sessions of the «Nature Reserve Management of the RGS» project.
Requirements for participants: age from 18 years, readiness for physical work, discipline, ability to work in a group. The media volunteers will have to transfer the footage (including the source files and the edited videos) to the RGS with the preservation of copyrights within the time period designated by the curator of the project.
Vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis and/or insurance is recommended.
