The regatta of cruising yachts «Sails of the Black Sea» in Novorossiysk, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, became the only sailing parade in Russia in honor of this significant date. Twenty yachts with flags of Russia and the USSR sailed to military-patriotic songs along Admiral Serebryakov Embankment. The project participants also joined the «Immortal Regiment» campaign. One of the organizers of the colorful event was the Krasnodar Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society.

«The participants of the sailing parade represented Novorossiysk, Moscow, Krasnodar, Snezhinsk, Rostov-on-Don, Saratov, St. Petersburg, Tuapse, Simferopol, and other cities of our country, ” said Sergei Zakharov, Commander of the Novorossiysk Marine Club, President of the Krasnodar Region Sailing Federation, member of the RGS.

In total, seven races were held as part of the regatta, each of which became a real challenge for the participants. During the Gelendzhik-Novorossiysk stage, the athletes faced a calm. The most difficult was the distance from Bolshoy Utrish, where the yachtsmen struggled with strong winds.
