A special screening of a feature-length film about the circumnavigation expedition of the Tomsk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society on January 13 gathered about 400 spectators at the Tomsk Palace of Creativity of Children and Youth. Fascinating documentary «Pereplyt okean. I vernutsya drugimi» (eng. «Cross the Ocean and Come back Changed»), created by the «Moya Planeta» TV channel, tells about the highlights of the journey of two Siberians along the path of famous Russian navigators of the past.
The film uses video recordings by Stanislav Berezkin and Evgeny Kovalevsky, who were almost continuously filming their journey. The crew shares their experiences and achievements, the beauty of nature and the traditions of various countries, and, of course, the greatness of the vast expanses of water on our planet. The audience will witness real dramas: the loss of a ship on the way to Easter Island and shark attacks in the Pacific Ocean.

The round-the-world expedition of the Tomsk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society successfully finished on November 6 in Kronstadt. In three years and four months, Evgeny Kovalevsky and Stanislav Berezkin traveled 35,000 nautical miles, visited 32 countries and island territories. They have survived two shipwrecks, shark attacks, and powerful storms, passed through war zones, and coped with countless different difficulties. In each country, the crew met with local residents and told them about Russia, its geography, history, nature, and people. This was one of the main tasks of the expedition, the noble mission of people’s diplomacy.
