October 8, leaders and members of the Tula regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society visited the Kireevsk School for orphans and children without parental care. The visit was organized as part of the social initiative of the Russian Geographical Society "Geography for Children".
"Geography for children" is a social initiative of the Russian Geographical Society for children left without parents. Since the autumn of 2018, educational and awareness-raising events have been held in various regions of Russia with the participation of regional branches and youth clubs of Society. Events have already been organized in several Russia’s regions, such as Saransk, Vladivostok, Kemerovo and Moscow.
The meeting began with the speech of the Chairman of the Tula regional branch of the Society, Oleg Zolotarev. He spoke about the goals and objectives of the Society. Then the children watched the documentary film entitled “On the waves of a dream” about a research expedition of a group of Tula enthusiasts on a sailing-motor boat “Dream” on the Oka River.

Then Maria Shirokova, a member of the Tula department of the RGS, told the children from the boarding school about the ‘Following the Zasechnaya footsteps’ project. The project is supported by the Fund of the Russian President for the development of civil society provided. Then the children watched short videos about the campaigns organized within the project.
The children also took part in exciting games and master classes.

The next event of the "Geography for Children" initiative will be held in the Novokuznetsk orphanage-school №95 on November 13.
