The First Shots From The Site Of The Fall Of A Meteorite In Evenkia

According to head of the Evenki local branch of the Russian Geographical Society Ivan Ivanov, scientists of the Russian Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry named after V.I. Vernadsky RAS found the alleged site of a meteorite falling in Evenkia. It entered the atmosphere of the Earth at approximately 19:30 Krasnoyarsk time on March 15 .

Two representatives of the institute carried out an exploratory expedition to the Evenkiysky municipal district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. They also took soil samples at the site of the fall of the cosmic body located not far from the village of Uchi.

As Ivan Ivanov notes, scientists believe that there are fragments of a meteorite under a 1.5-meter layer of snow and a meter-thick layer of ice. In the near future, a joint expedition of representatives of the Russian Institute and their Finnish colleagues is planned to Evenkia. Then, perhaps, it will be possible to detect the wreckage of the cosmic body and study them.
