The Youth Intellectual Club of the Russian Geographical Society invites students, aspirants and young scientists to take part in the Club meeting on the topic of «Who needs anthropology and ethnography in the modern world?» the 23rd of March.
Why there exist various peoples and languages in the world? How the Russian state was formed and what is the composition of its people? How to understand and how to manage the state, when it is inhabited by the people of different nationalities and beliefs? Many ethnic groups and cultures – is that fact being the risk or benefit? These and many other questions will be spoken over within the frames of this discussion.
The discussion will be held in the form of a debate, when each participant has an opportunity to express his point of view. The representatives of the youth section of the Ethnographic Commission of the Russian Geographical Society will take part in the meeting. There are Russian ethnologist, historian and social anthropologist, the chairman of the Ethnographic Commission, academician Valery Tishkov, deputy director of Educational and Scientific Center of Social Anthropology of the Russian State Humanitarian University Olga Artemova, Russian director, screenwriter, producer Alexey Vakhrushev.
We are paying your attention to that fact that to take part in the meeting of the Youth Intellectual Club are being invited people younger than 35 years.
The event is being organized by the Russian Geographical Society with the support of the Coordinating Council on Youth in the scientific and educational spheres under the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education, the Faculty of global processes and geographical faculty of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
