The Russian Geographical Society will open a new, sixth foreign center. It will work in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. On February 5, a multilateral meeting was held at the RGS Headquarters in Moscow with the participation of representatives of the Executive Directorate of the RGS, the Russian Association for International Cooperation, and the RGS Centers in India (New Delhi) and Sri Lanka, where plans for 2025 were discussed.

The foreign guests were greeted by Nikolai Kasimov, First Vice-President of the Russian Geographical Society. He spoke about the history and key projects of the RGS, including the active development of international relations. The host country also organized a tour of the Headquarters and presented a book exhibition dedicated to South Asia.

At the meeting, the parties discussed a joint work plan for 2025. During the discussion, mutual interest was expressed in organizing the translation and republication of books about the expeditions of Russian travelers to South Asia, as well as environmental campaigns and educational events dedicated to the celebration of the 180th anniversary of the Russian Geographical Society.
