The bulletin of the Russian Geographical Society "Rodnaya Strana" (eng. “Homeland”) has been published since 2022. The full-color magazine tells about the daily life of the RGS, introduces the reader to the most interesting events in the life of the Society, expeditions, competitions, exhibitions, and other projects. This is a magazine for those who share our values and are interested in our work.
MoreThe journal has been published under the name "Led i sneg" (eng. “Ice and Snow”) since 2010. Its pages discuss a wide range of issues related to the study of atmospheric ice, snow cover and avalanches, mountain glaciers and polar ice sheets, sea, river, lake and underground ice, glacial mudflows and icings, as well as past glaciations of the Earth and possible cooling in the future. This subject matter also has an applied component, covering icing processes, blizzards and snow drifts, movements of surging glaciers and glacial floods, similar to the well-known catastrophe of 2002 on the Caucasus Kolka Glacier.
MoreThe collections “Voprosy Geografii” (eng. "Geography Issues") were published from 1946 to 1988. During these years, more than 130 issues were published, devoted to a variety of scientific issues and educational goals in all areas of geography and related fields of science. In 2008, the Russian Geographical Society resumed publication of this series.
The collections and the materials placed in them became the fundamental basis of modern geographical science. No solid geographical monograph can do without references to them. Thus, "Voprosy Geografii" entered the golden fund of serial publications of Russian scientific thought.
More"Izvestiya Russkogo Geograficheskogo Obshchestva" (eng. “RGS News”) is one of the oldest scientific geographical journals in Russia, published since 1865. The founders are the Russian Geographical Society, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Limnology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The journal is devoted to current and controversial, theoretical and applied issues of modern geography and related sciences. Much attention is paid to the publication of articles devoted to major national economic problems, the consequences of the territorial organization of the economy and regional development, rational use of resources, and the preservation of natural diversity.
The pages of the journal also cover issues of methodology and methods of geographical research, and raise issues of geographical education.
MoreThe purpose of the new magazine “Geography, Environment, Sustainability” ("GES") published in English is to illuminate related interdisciplinary scientific fields, many new approaches and methods, along with a wide range of their practical applications. This goal covers a broad spectrum of scientific research areas and also considers contemporary and widely used research methods, such as geoinformation, cartography, remote sensing (including from space), geophysics, geochemistry, etc. In the sections of “Geography, Environment, Sustainability” are questions about the structuring of accumulated knowledge, the description of internal relationships and the formation of an understanding of the interrelationships between different disciplines.
