Members of the archaeological and geographical expedition to study the Tunnug mound undertook landscaping of the memorial to the inhabitants of the village of Arzhaan who fell in the Great Patriotic War. The action was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Russian Army. It was initiated by the Russian Geographical Society and the Expedition Center of the Ministry of Defense.
Students of the local school and members of the village youth council took part in the event together with the volunteers of the Russian Geographical Society. They cleaned the monument, painted the fence and whitewashed the memorial pedestal.

Working with the younger generation of volunteers, the members of the Tunnug expedition told them about the geography, archeology and current work, gave practical advice on how to take part in projects of the Youth Center of the Russian Geographical Society.
Having completed their work, the young people sang the old songs of wartime and laid flowers. They took a group photo for memory and invited the students of the Arzhaan School to visit the expedition camp.

Ekaterina Tulush, the acting Head of the Arzhaan Administration, thanked the Russian Geographical Society, as well as all the participants and organizers of the event.
"I am glad that the volunteers improved the memorial to soldiers of the Great Patriotic War in the Year of Volunteers. They have shown an excellent example to the Arzhaan youth”, she said.
