The final, third stage of the All-Russian competition of the RGS "High-class Geography" took place at the Headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society in Moscow on November 22, 2024. Here are the results of the large-scale project and names of the winners.
"High-class Geography" is an All-Russian competition of the RGS dedicated to the school subject "geography". It promotes the intellectual development of students, attracts the attention of the professional community and the public to the comprehensive study of the subject using modern technologies and a creative approach, motivates students to study geography, and teachers to improve the level of professional knowledge and the quality of presentation of the material. The aim of the project is to show that the geography classroom is a place where every student can learn new, interesting, and useful things about the world in which we live.
180 schools from 57 regions of Russia took part in the "High-class Geography" competition in 2024. 50 schools from 30 regions of the country met in the semi-finals. Five of the best schools from the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, and the Republic of Crimea became finalists of the project.
As part of the first stage, which took place online from April 19 to May 31, teachers prepared lessons for children on any topic related to the geography of Russia. The second, semi-final stage, held online from September 2 to October 13, was a competition for the best lesson, this time conducted by schoolchildren for parents, teachers, and peers. The topics for these lessons were stories about outstanding geographers and travelers.
In the final, which was hosted by the Moscow Headquarters of the RGS on November 22, the best of the best presented their lessons to the jury of the All-Russian competition. The finalists talked about their school, their geography teacher, and also shared their impressions of the competition.
According to the results of the All-Russian competition of the RGS "High-class Geography", the places were distributed as follows:

The awards were presented to the winners of the All-Russian competition "High-class Geography" by Sergei Korlykhanov, First Deputy Executive Director of the RGS. The jury consisted of: Director of the Regional Development Department of the Executive Directorate of the RGS Artur Latypov, Secretary of the RGS’s Geographical and Environmental Education Commission Lyudmila Travina, head of the Prishvin RGS Youth Club Igor Polyudchenkov, head of the “Pleskovo” RGS Youth Club Maria Bocharova.
