The Russian Geographical Society announces the start of accepting applications for participation in the specialized session «World of Discoveries». It will be held at the All-Russian children’s center «Smena» in the village of Sukko, Anapa District, Krasnodar Territory, from March 23 to April 5, 2026.
Participants of the specialized session of the RGS will get acquainted with the history of great geographical discoveries, the activities of outstanding scientists, researchers, and travelers. The program is also aimed at popularizing the achievements of Russian science and creating a sustained interest in geography and related scientific disciplines.
Students will be able to broaden their horizons and acquire useful skills. The event program combines educational and practical activities: lectures, master classes, meetings with experts, visits to exhibitions, and thematic venues. Children will have the opportunity to develop their own original routes and projects, as well as participate in tourist, sports, and research competitions.
Schoolchildren aged 14–17 who are interested in geography and related sciences, as well as those who are active in social, project, and creative activities, are invited to participate in the specialized session of the Russian Geographical Society «World of Discoveries». Applications for participation in the qualifying competition will be accepted until February 15, 2026. The results will be published on February 24.
Before submitting an application, you need to familiarize yourself with the Regulations on Competitive Selection. Please note: in 2026, one participant can only be selected for one specialized session of the RGS in children’s centers. Information about contests for other specialized sessions will be published additionally.
The specialized session program «World of Discoveries» has been implemented by the Russian Geographical Society together with the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation since 2015. The main goal of the large-scale educational project is to preserve and enhance Russia’s intellectual potential. Every year, young geographers travel to the All-Russian and international children’s centers «Orlyonok», «Ocean», «Alye Parusa», «Smena», and «Artek». More than 8,000 children from all regions of Russia have already become participants in the specialized session of the «World of Discoveries».
