On December 15, the exhibition "ALSIB: Territory of Courage" will open at the museum complex “Memory Lane” in Patriot Park. The exhibition will feature the first artifacts found during the expedition of the Russian Geographical Society along the legendary air route.
ALSIB (Alaska – Siberia) or the Krasnoyarsk Air Route is an air corridor along which aircraft supplied to the USSR under Lend-Lease were transported during World War II. In 1941, under conditions of complete secrecy, it was decided to build infrastructure facilities along the route, the length of which was 6,306 km.
A large-scale RGS expedition to explore the ALSIB Air Route started in 2021. Its main task is to collect data and tell about the daily exploits of pilots and technicians in the extreme conditions of the Far North, to perpetuate the memory of the heroes. The team had to conduct comprehensive surveys of airfields and crash sites. In three years, it was possible to discover many objects of military equipment history and transfer them to specialists for study and preservation.

In Gallery No. 26 of the museum complex “Memory Lane”, visitors will see a fragment of the Douglas C-47 Skytrain aircraft, which was supplied by the United States to the Soviet Union under the Lend-Lease. Among them is the engine, control pedals, antenna matching device, part of the starter housing and much more.
