Filming of the movie "Walking in the Clouds", as part of the RGS’s project "Russian Heritage of the Himalayas: Journey Continues", began in India and Nepal. The documentary will tell about Russian artists and scientists who have devoted their lives and creativity to exploring the highest peaks of the planet. The heroes of the picture will also be our contemporaries who continue to work in this amazing region of the world.

The film is directed by the famous Russian documentary filmmaker, the winner of the Crystal Compass National Award Vladimir Shuvannikov.

“The Himalayas and Tibet are called the ‘roof of the world’ not only because of the high altitude, but also because of the inaccessibility. This region remained a mystery to Europeans until the 20th century. And until now, very few people know what role Russian scientists and travelers have played in it exploration. These are not only Przhevalsky, but also no less outstanding people: Kozlov, Tsybikov, Gromchevsky, Pevtsov. The goal of our film is to remind about their contribution to science and show how modern Russian scientists continue to study the region," Vladimir Shuvannikov stressed.

Russian, Indian, and Nepalese artists, art historians, scientists, diplomats, public and state figures are taking part in the work on the film. In Russia, the filming will take place in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Krasnodar Territory.

“Our film is part of a large project ‘Russian Heritage of the Himalayas: Journey Continues’. It is dedicated to outstanding Russians who explored and painted the great mountains, revealed the countries and peoples of the Himalayan region to the world. Today we continue the tradition of exploring the Himalayas and try to remind the world of the names of outstanding compatriots," said Ivan Chaika, project manager, author of the idea, and general producer of the film.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and Rossotrudnichestvo, as well as the founder of the Alias Group investment holding Boris Yunanov, and Afipka NPZ.

The project "Russian Heritage of the Himalayas: Journey Continues" was launched in 2015. The members of the RGS’s expedition conducted a number of scientific studies in Bhutan, Nepal, India, China (Tibet), and Pakistan.

Honored Artist and traveler of Russia Sergey Dudko has created a unique gallery "Bouquet of Peaks" with pictures of all eight-thousanders of the planet. The exhibition has been repeatedly demonstrated in museums of the Krasnodar Territory. On November 22, the exhibition was inaugurated at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in New Delhi (India).
