During road work on the Novoryazanskoye highway in Lyubertsy, the bulldozer driver Mirzayan Shaikhutdinov found an undefined item in the bulldozer's blade, the website of the Lyubertsy administration reports. On the same day, the man took the find to the Lyubertsy Museum of Local Lore.
Specialists of the Paleontological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences performed an examination of the bone and found that the vertebra belonged to an adult mammoth. Presumably this is the bone of a female who lived on the territory of modern Moscow about 25-30 thousand years ago. This is what was told by methodologist of the Lyubertsy Museum of Local Lore Tatyana Gordeeva in an interview with reporters.

Experts say that 25-30 thousand years ago, a large number of mammoths inhabited the territory of the present Moscow Region. The remains were found in Zaraysk, as well as in the Tver and Smolensk regions.
"Currently, the mammoth bone has been donated to the Museum and Exhibition Complex. The mammoth vertebra will be exhibited in the new archaeological hall," Tatyana Gordeeva summed up.
