Registration of the In-Person Venues for the Geographical Dictation Extended until November 27

The Russian Geographical Society is extending the registration period for the in-person venues of the Geographical Dictation in 2025. You can apply for the large-scale international campaign until November 27.

The Geographical Dictation of 2025 will be held on November 30, at 12:00 local time, at all in-person venues in Russia and in other countries of the world. A demo version of the Dictation is already available. It allows you to test your knowledge from the comfort of your home and answer 40 questions in 45 minutes. You can also view previous years' assignments with correct answers there.

The questions of the main version were prepared on the basis of the best applications for the «Write Your Question for the Geographical Dictation» competition, and also supplemented with assignments from the largest Russian companies and international partners of the RGS. A separate version has been created for foreign participants — 20 adapted questions for those who do not speak Russian.

The Geographical Dictation of 2025 is dedicated to several major anniversaries at once: the 180th anniversary of the Russian Geographical Society, the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the 500th anniversary of the development of the Northern Sea Route, as well as Russia’s historical, cultural, and geographical ties with the BRICS countries.

Over the past 10 years, residents of 137 countries, including Russia, have joined the project. During this time, more than 4 million people have tested their knowledge of geography. In 2025, interest in the project continues to grow — the venue map is being updated with new locations around the world.

In 2025, for the first time, the Geographical Dictation will be held in Jamaica. The northernmost venue of the campaign will be the recently opened Expedition and Tourism Center of the RGS in Spitsbergen. Among the participants are the regional school of the Olympic Reserve of Kyrgyzstan, the RGS Youth Center in Spain, the AO «ASE» representative offices in Bangladesh and Egypt, the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant venue in India, and the Geographical Society of Abkhazia.
