The participants of the scientific and educational program of the Russian Geographical Society in Southern China, taking place May 26 to 28, participated in the annual meeting of the Chinese Geographical Society. At the opening ceremony of the event, Vice President, Secretary General of the CGS Guoyou Zhang was awarded the Honorary Certificate on behalf of President of the Russian Geographical Society Sergei Shoigu for the great contribution of the CGS to the activities of the RGS.
In her welcoming speech, Svetlana Vorobyova, Adviser of the Department of Expert-Analytical and International Activities of the Russian Geographical Society, noted that the possibility of the Russian delegation's participation in the meeting reflects the high level of trust between the two organizations and serves as confirmation of the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation.

As part of the business program, a Russian-Chinese round table for young geographers was held. Its participants presented the results of their scientific research and exchanged experiences. Among the speakers from the Chinese side were experts who participated in the exchange programs organized by the RGS on the islands of the Gulf of Finland in 2017 and in the Krasnodar Territory in 2019.
“The last three years have made it difficult to conduct student exchanges, but we have continued to organize events online. We hope that today's meeting will lay a solid foundation for future exchanges and field work," said Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Vice President of the CGS Siya Dun.
