The centers of the Russian Geographical Society in France and Transnistria held intellectual games on the geography of Russia on May 18 and 20. Competitions organized according to the principle of the famous TV show “Chto? Gde? Kogda?” (eng. "What? Where? When?") aroused great interest and received a lot of positive feedback.

In France, the quiz of the RGS was conducted jointly with the association "Russian House in Strasbourg" and the Russian House of Science and Culture in Paris. The theme of the game, which brought together participants of all ages and nationalities, from beginners to experienced experts in geography and related sciences, was Lake Baikal.

The students of the universities of Strasbourg and our compatriots showed great interest in the geography of Russia. The best teams were the national team "67 region of Russia" (67 is the number of the French department of the Lower Rhine); the team “Icebreaker” made up of students studying language, history, and natural sciences; as well as the team of French-Russian young couples "Baikalzas".

An urban intellectual marathon "Everest" was organized for high school students in the Pridnestrovian Moldavan Republic. The questions of the quiz were interdisciplinary at the intersection of physics, geography, biology, chemistry, philology, and history. Schoolchildren of educational institutions of the city of Tiraspol demonstrated intellectual enthusiasm, breadth of knowledge as well as a creative approach to finding and formulating answers.

According to the results of the marathon, the first place was taken by the team “Aurora” of the Humanities and Mathematics Gymnasium, the second by the team “Parliament” of the General Theoretical Lyceum No. 1, the third place was shared by the teams “Champions” of Secondary School No. 12 and “Lilies of the Valley” of Secondary School No. 17.

The result of the games was a lot of positive feedback from their participants who demonstrated high intellect and depth of knowledge on the geography of Russia.
