The circumnavigation expedition of the Tomsk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society left the coast of Australia on December 11. After the traditional customs check at Cullen Bay Marina near Darwin, Stanislav Berezkin and Evgeny Kovalevsky sent their ship to the island of Timor. The travelers chose the Indonesian port of Kupang as their next destination. The target is about 500 miles away.
“A cyclone is chasing us from the south. It should catch up with us in a week, on Tuesday. The task is to get to Timor Island in time and enter the port of Kupang before the cyclone,” said Evgeny Kovalevsky.

In Australia, the expedition members not only found a new vessel to continue sailing, but also held many educational meetings with local residents. Russian explorers Stanislav Berezkin and Evgeny Kovalevsky talked about their project "Following the paths of Russian explorers ", about Russia and Siberia, about the history of the discovery and exploration of the world by Russian travelers and scientists.
During their stay in Australia, the circumnavigators also took part in a new "Lesson from the Ocean." This educational project of the Tomsk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society reached the international level in December. About 2,000 children from Russia and other countries of the world joined the live broadcast. This time, the campaign was dedicated to an urgent and important topic: the ecology of the World Ocean.
On July 1, 2021, Siberian travelers Evgeny Kovalevsky and Stanislav Berezkin set off along the route of the first Russian round-the-world expeditions of the 19th century: Ivan Kruzenshtern’s (1803-1806), Yuri Lisyansky’s (1803-1806), Otto Kotzebue’s (1815-1818, 1823-1826), Vasily Golovnin’s (1817-1819), Fedor Litke’s (1826-1829), Faddey Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev’s (1819-1921). The international project of the Tomsk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society "Following the paths of Russian explorers" is dedicated to the 250th birthday anniversary of Krusenstern and the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by Russian sailors. These events for a long time determined Russia's leadership in the development of the oceans and the discovery of new lands.
