The 10th European Geography Olympiad (EGeo 2024) has ended in the Republic of Serbia. The main and junior teams of the Russian national team won four gold, four silver, and five bronze medals.

The tests of the Olympiad included theoretical and practical rounds, a multimedia test which had to be done in English. The results of the international competition were summed up individually in two age categories: the main team (senior group, 16-19 years old) and the junior team (junior group, 12-15 years old).

Winners and runners-up of the European Geography Olympiad from the main Russian team (senior group, 16-19 years old)

Gold medals:

— Egor Bakhun, School No. 1518, Moscow;

— Dina Islyamutdinova, School No. 2054, Moscow;

— Angelina Popova, University Gymnasium of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow;

— Tikhon Pulyaev, Moscow School in the Southwest No. 1543.

Silver medals:

— Danila Gavrilov, HSE University, Moscow;

— Arthur Shlein, Gymnasium No. 652, St. Petersburg.

Bronze medals:

— Ivan Ofitserov, School No. 171, Moscow;

— Arseny Smakov, school of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence, Moscow.

Winners and runners-up of the European Geography Olympiad from the junior group (junior group, 12-15 years old)

Silver medals:

— Christian Rymarchuk, School No. 179, Moscow;

— Oleg Tsvetkov, Gymnasium No. 652, St. Petersburg.

Bronze medals:

— Angelina Gayazova, Economics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 29, Izhevsk;

— Stepan Klepov, Letovo School, Moscow;

— Artyom Janzen, Lyceum No. 11, Chelyabinsk.

The heads of the national teams were Pavel Kirillov, a leading researcher at the Faculty of Geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Dmitry Bogachev, associate professor at the Faculty of Geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Anna Romashina, a teacher at “Novaya Shkola” (eng. “New School”) in Moscow, and Artur Petrosyan, a graduate student at the Department of Demography at the Higher School of Economics.

The preparation of Russian schoolchildren for the Olympiad took place at the orientation sessions at the University Gymnasium of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
