The Russian Geographical Society announces the extension of the deadline for accepting works for the RGS Award. At the request of the participants, you can apply until June 10, 2025, on a special website.
The RGS Award is a prestigious award in the field of national geography, ecology, conservation, and popularization of the natural, historical, and cultural heritage of Russia. It has been awarded since 2014, during which time more than 2,000 projects have been evaluated by experts.
The main prize of the RGS Award in 2025 is 1 million rubles. You can compete for it in nine categories:
• «Best Scientific Project» (results of scientific research projects in the field of geography and related sciences);
• «Best Historical and Cultural Project» (results of projects in the field of archeology, ethnography and related sciences, museum activities and foundations);
• «Best Educational Project in Geography» (results of educational projects in the field of geography and related sciences);
• «Best Environmental Protection Project» (results of projects to study, restore, and preserve the environment and biological diversity, as well as promote the rational use of natural resources);
• «Best Documentary Film» (results of documentary projects about the history, nature, ethnography, geography of Russia, as well as about outstanding scientists and travelers);
• «Best Travel Film» (the results of documentary projects dedicated to travel in Russia);
• «Best Tourism Project» (results of projects for the development of domestic and inbound tourism in Russia);
• «Best Children’s Project» (results of projects carried out by authors between the ages of 8 and 16 who are engaged in research and popularization of knowledge in the field of geography and related disciplines);
• «Best Foreign Project About Russia» (results of projects carried out by foreign citizens or organizations).
The winners of the Award in the categories «Best Children’s Project» and «Best Foreign Project about Russia» will be awarded certificates for participation in an RGS tour.
The awards will be presented and the winners announced at a ceremony in October 2025.
The works will be accepted from March 24 to June 10, 2025.
