The International Scientific Forum dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the traveler, researcher, geographer, historian, ethnographer, folklorist, publicist, and artist Chokan Valikhanov was held in Kazakhstan. Aleksey Nikulin, a full member of the Russian Geographical Society and a documentary filmmaker, made a presentation at the event.
Chokan Valikhanov was a man of many talents. His travels and writings made a significant contribution to the study of the Tien Shan and Semirechye, as well as to the development of physical, social, and economic geography.
Aleksey Nikulin’s report was dedicated to the topic «Pyotr Semenov-Tyan-Shansky and Chokan Valikhanov: The Force of Gravity». The international forum was also attended by scientists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and other countries.
