The Russian Geographical Society took part in the III International Buddhist Forum. A large-scale event was held from September 25 to 28 in Elista at the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During the four days of the forum, the capital of the Republic of Kalmykia hosted over 7,000 guests. Among them were spiritual leaders, scientists, government and public figures from 35 countries who participated in more than 50 events.
«The International Buddhist Forum has confirmed the high importance of the Buddhist tradition as part of the world’s spiritual and cultural heritage, which is in demand in modern times. Such initiatives make a significant contribution to the development of international dialogue and the strengthening of interfaith harmony,» said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.
The forum has become an important platform not only for strengthening international humanitarian cooperation and confirming the relevance of Buddhist values, but also for the development of geographical science. The event clearly demonstrated the importance of a comprehensive approach to the study and preservation of historical, cultural, and natural values, contributing to the strengthening of mutual understanding between different cultures and countries.
The VR cinema of the Russian Geographical Society was particularly popular among the forum participants. At this unique platform, it was possible to get acquainted with films about the natural attractions of the Republic of Tyva and the whole of Russia. Thanks to virtual reality technology, viewers traveled through the protected areas of various regions, saw beautiful landscapes and natural monuments that are rightfully considered the pride of our country.
