A translation of Igor Okunev’s textbook «Political Geography» has been published by Trama, Spain’s leading academic publishing house. The book in Spanish is called «Elementos y estructuras del mapa político mundial» (eng. «Elements and Structures of the Political Map of the World») and it has become the sixth translated edition: previously, the textbook of the Russian scientist was published in English, French, Polish, Persian, and Mongolian.
Igor Okunev is a well-known political geographer; Candidate of Political Sciences; associate Professor, leading researcher at the Institute of International Studies, MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia; Vice-President of the Association of Russian Human Geographers; founder of Terra Politica Youth Club of the RGS at MGIMO University of the MFA of Russia.
The textbook «Political Geography» was first published in Russian in 2019. It is a textbook for the students of MGIMO University of the MFA of Russia and anyone interested in the discipline studying the spatial dimension of politics.
As Mikhail Ilyin, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor at MGIMO University, noted in the preface to the Russian edition, the author offers a kind of «periodic table of elements» of the political space, structured by levels and degree of organization.

The Spanish translation of Igor Okunev’s book has joined the publishing series Ecúmene («Ecumene»), which presents the array of current geopolitical thought to the Spanish-speaking world. Previously, this collection published translations of the works of such scientists as Colin Flint, Peter Taylor, John Agnew, Simon Dolby, and others. The editor-in-chief of the series is Heriberto Cayro Carou, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology at Complutense University of Madrid, Chairman of the Political and Cultural Geography Research Committee of the International Political Science Association.
The translation of the textbook «Political Geography» into Chinese is currently being completed.
