Tools – F. Litke's ethno-collection
The Museum Collection organizes the acquisition, accounting, storage, and use of cultural assets of the collection. Conducts research work.
The collection of the Geographical Society is an assortment of cultural values collected during the life of the geographical society: memorial items associated with the names of great Russian travelers and researchers, items brought from expeditions, including archaeological finds, as well as gifts from members of the RGS, scientists, travelers, and researchers. These are rare and unique items: a first-aid kit, drafting tools, and a smoking pipe of V.A. Obruchev; a bag for grinding snuff of F.P. Litke; a collection of fishing gear for marine animals collected by the expedition of F.P. Litke on the islands of the Bering Sea and Polynesia in 1826-1829; a writing desk-box of I.F. Kruzenshtern; the mantel clock of one of the participants of the Bellingshausen-Lazarev Antarctic Expedition; objects of the archaeological excavations of the Mangazeya settlement, transferred by the historical and geographical expedition under the leadership of Professor M.I. Belov; an extensive collection of commemorative medals of Geographical Societies of the world; and many other inventory items.
