Branch in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug

The branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug was organized on August 2, 2010.

Its main task is to collect and disseminate reliable information about the region, including general geographic, statistical and ethnographic data. The activity is also aimed at bringing together people engaged in the study and development of geographical science, local lore, popularization of geographical and related knowledge, conducting regional research and expeditions in order to study geography and the historical geography of the districts of the district in more depth. It is also worth noting the study of the prospects for the development of ecological, local history, adventure and scientific tourism in the regions of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
