Dagestan Republican Branch

The Dagestan Republican branch of the Russian Geographical Society was established in November 1959.

In the activities of the Department, great importance is attached to the formation of the ecological culture of youth, the protection and popularization of the natural and cultural heritage of Dagestan, attracting the best minds to the study of their native land and the life of its population. The Department's main tasks include comprehensive geographical research of the Republic of Dagestan, especially the border areas, environmental monitoring, analysis and forecasting of regional problems, the development of geoinformation systems for use in territorial planning, the creation of electronic databases, electronic atlases and maps, videos and TV shows on geographical and local history topics.
