Magadan Regional Department

The most important task of the Magadan department is to conduct scientific research and expeditions to gain new knowledge in all areas related to the integrated development of the Magadan region. Equally important is the dissemination of knowledge about the nature of the North, the unique culture of the indigenous population of the region, assistance in the development of recreational, cultural and other areas of tourism in the region. There are three sections – local history and historical-geographical, expedition, and school work. It is important that the members of the Department actively participate in various projects, cooperate with research institutions, higher and secondary educational institutions, and public organizations that meet the interests of the development of the Magadan region. Since March 28, 2014, a specially equipped hall of the Russian Geographical Society has been operating and a book exhibition has been presented. Its exposition includes about 80 unique publications donated by Mr. Frederik Paulsen, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Society.
