Primorsky Regional branch

The Primorsky Regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society - the Amur Region Research Society – the oldest public organization in the region – was established on April 18 (30), 1884.

It is engaged in active expeditionary, educational and publishing activities, makes a great contribution to the development of local lore, the study of geography, history, ecology of the region, and contributes to the preservation of its natural and cultural heritage.

The department has a unique library, the creators of which were famous public figures of their time. Its collections number 46 thousand volumes and more than 45 thousand magazines in ten languages, half of the books are rare editions. Since 1888, its own publication has been published – "Notes of the Society for the Study of the Amur Region". The 47th volume has now been released.
