Pskov Regional Office

The Pskov Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society was established in December 1968. At that time, the official name had a slightly different sound – the Pskov Department of the Geographical Society of the USSR.

Its main task today is to unite the efforts of scientific and practical organizations engaged in the study of nature, the population and the economy of the Pskov region. The increased attention to these problems is caused by the fact that the territory of the region has not been studied enough. The main tasks set by the Department are to promote the development of geographical science, highlight its achievements and put research results into practice.
