Tver Regional Office
The Tver regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society was established a year after the end of the Great Patriotic War. On May 18, 1946, the Presidium of the Geographical Society of the USSR approved the decision of the initiative group to create the Kalinin (until 1991 Tver was called Kalinin) department of the Society.
The first chairman of the Kalinin Department was Boris Nikolaevich Semevsky, a student and later associate of the famous Soviet geneticist, geographer, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences N.I.Vavilov. Subsequently, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor Semevsky headed the Department of Economic Geography at Leningrad State University, was a member of the editorial board of the Great Soviet Encyclopedia, and in 1970 – 1976 was Vice-president of the Geographical Society of the USSR.
On June 1, 2000, the Department of Justice of the Tver Region registered the public association "Tver Regional Branch of the All-Russian Public Organization "Russian Geographical Society", headed by Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor Alexander Andreevich Tkachenko. From 2013 to 2023, the Department was headed by Andrey Vladlenovich Belotserkovsky, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor. Since 2023, the Department has been headed by Natalia Evgenievna Serditova, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor.

Landscape and ecological analysis of the state of natural and anthropogenic territorial and aquatic complexes;
Assessment of the state of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems in the Tver region.
Socio-geographical aspects of regional development.
The study of socio-demographic processes and the settlement system of the Tver region.
Problems of regional environmental management.
Assessment studies and mapping of priority types of environmental management for the region.
Scientific support for the maintenance of the Red Book of the Tver region.
Geographical foundations of tourism: assessment of tourist and recreational potential, design and organization of tourism in the regions of Central Russia.
Remote methods of research of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems of the Tver region.
