The international educational campaign of the RGS «Geographical Dictation» was among the winners of the «Znanie. Award», the flagship project of the Russian society «Znanie». The award ceremony took place on February 27 at the national center «Rossiya».
«The educational movement in our country has a rich history filled with vivid examples of honest, selfless service to the chosen cause, people, and the homeland. It is gratifying that the noble, inspiring traditions of selfless work continue, and today we honor those who sincerely, at the call of their hearts, devote themselves to extremely important, sought-after work: mentoring, educating the younger generations on the basis of high ideals of patriotism and civic-mindedness, respect for national history, culture, and their spiritual roots; those who do a lot to promote the unique achievements of Russian scientific thought, strive to pass on their professional and life experience to the younger generation,» Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his address to the participants of the ceremony.
The project of the Russian Geographical Society became the winner in the category «For contribution to education in the field of ecology and tourism». At the ceremony, the prestigious award was presented to Ilya Gurov, First Deputy Executive Director of the RGS, by Victoria Abramchenko, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

«Znanie. Award» is the country’s main educational award, which was established by the Russian society «Znanie» in 2021 to recognize the achievements of teachers, lecturers, authors, bloggers, science popularizers, and other educational figures, as well as to celebrate educational projects and companies from various fields. In total, 19,523 applications from 89 regions and 56 foreign countries were received in 2024. On February 27, the country learned the names of 31 laureates in 21 categories.
