The photo exhibition of the Russian Geographical Society «Hero Cities in Focus» was held in the Indian city of Trivandrum. The exhibition became part of the program of the Victory Festival, organized in southern India as part of the celebration of May 9.
The exhibition features 55 photographs dedicated to Russian hero cities. These include Moscow, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Tula, Murmansk, Sevastopol, Kerch, Novorossiysk, and Smolensk.
Ratish Nair, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the RGS Center in India, noted that more than 3,000 people had visited the exhibition on the opening day alone. Member of the Indian Parliament Adoor Prakash delivered a welcoming speech at the ceremony.
«The victory of the Soviet Union in the war was a turning point in history. There are many cities in Russia that resisted the Nazis. Millions of people died in these Russian cities. Therefore, they deserve to be honored for their patriotism and willingness to sacrifice themselves,» Adoor Prakash said.

The Victory Festival started in the Indian state of Kerala on April 30. Over the course of nine days, various events dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War were held as part of its program. The festival was held with the assistance of the Honorary Russian Consulate in Trivandrum, Rossotrudnichestvo, the Lomonosov Foundation, and the Russkiy Mir Foundation.
