The Russian Geographical Society took part in the 8th TravelExpo Ankara International Tourism Fair 2025, which was held in the Turkish capital from November 20 to 23. The RGS stand was organized jointly with the Russian House in Ankara and aroused great interest among the visitors of the event.
The central element of the exhibition was the VR film «Russia: A Virtual Tour», which invited viewers to an exciting panoramic tour of our country from the Barents Sea to the Sea of Japan. The film was translated into Turkish especially for the fair with the assistance of the Russian House. The virtual walk made a vivid impression on the guests of the fair. Among them were Nadir Alpaslan, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye; Aleksey Ivanov, Charge d’affaires of Russia in Türkiye; as well as Aygül Bilgin, chief organizer of TravelExpo Ankara and head of AtisFuarcılık.
Representatives of government agencies and delegations from 12 provinces of the Republic of Türkiye, the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks of Türkiye, employees of embassies and tourism organizations of Saudi Arabia, Brazil, South Africa, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, students studying in the field of «tourism» in Ankara universities, as well as local school students and families with children visited the stand of the RGS.
In addition, during their visit to Türkiye, the representatives of the RGS visited the Department of Geography at Ankara University and met with its head Professor Uğur Doğan. During the meeting, prospects for cooperation were discussed, including joint educational projects, scientific initiatives, and the participation of Turkish students in international programs of the Russian Geographical Society.
