The VI Festival of the Russian Geographical Society «Wonders of Russia» ended in Moscow on July 20. Thousands of its guests set off on an exciting journey through the vast expanses of our homeland, rediscovering the unique and diverse Russian nature, the bright facets of traditions and culture of the peoples inhabiting the great country. Every region, every artist, and every spectator became a participant in the great geography festival in the capital’s Zaryadye Park.
Over the course of nine days, Muscovites and guests of the city saw performances by artists from different regions (from Kaliningrad to the Far East), attended more than 40 lectures and 50 master classes, many exhibitions, and participated in quests and quizzes. The Russian Geographical Society would like to express its gratitude to all those who celebrated the beauty and greatness of Russia at this festival, who acted as a guide on this journey, who went on it with us, creating a unique atmosphere of unity and common joy. Together we have made this holiday a reality, because the main wonders of the country are always its people and their deeds.
«Dear friends, the Festival of the Russian Geographical Society has come to an end. There has never been a festival with such a particularly complex goal, but with an eventful and effective program. It will be remembered for a long time, will remain in the hearts of people and in the history of the RGS,» said Sergei Korlykhanov, First Deputy Executive Director of the RGS, at the closing ceremony in Zaryadye Park.
He noted that the preparation for the festival took many months. It was a lot of serious work for all the participants of the project, for the organizers of the holiday.
«On behalf of the Executive Director of the RGS, Artyom Manukyan, I would like to thank our volunteers and the staff of the Executive Directorate of the Russian Geographical Society for their good work at the festival venues around the clock. They put their intelligence, their strength, and their determination into our celebration when dealing with difficult issues. In the rain, in a hurricane, in the heat of +36 to +38 degrees, you always stayed in your places. We appreciate you and invite you to participate in our other interesting events in various regions of Russia (Kamchatka and the Kuril Islands, Siberia and Kaliningrad), we will invite you first to participate in any of our projects,» said Sergei Korlykhanov.
The RGS Festival has ended, but the Russian Geographical Society will continue to discover Russia in all its splendor. Do it with us every day!
