The Russian Geographical Society’s interactive stand became a key platform at the international project «The Word about the Russian Heart» in Jakarta. The event, which started on April 14, is part of a plan to further strengthen relations between Russia and Indonesia.
The Russian Geographical Society has participated in the project «The Word about the Russian Heart» for the third time. The project is implemented by Rossotrudnichestvo and the ANO Center for Creative Industries «New City». This time, the target audience of the festival were students and young professionals — the generation preparing to act as the main actor of the intercultural dialogue.
During the international project in Jakarta, the guests of the venue could get acquainted with the unique exhibition of the Russian Geographical Society. The interactive stand presented a multifaceted image of Russia through VR tours of the country’s protected areas, including Baikal, Kamchatka and the Caucasus, as well as multimedia maps with the routes of the great Russian expeditions.
The visitors were particularly interested in the opportunity to take a virtual trip to the most picturesque corners of Russia, get acquainted with the work of modern Russian researchers, and learn about the contribution of the Russian Geographical Society to the study and preservation of the country’s natural heritage. The guests also learned about volunteerism, expeditions, educational projects of the RGS, and the celebration of BRICS Geographer’s Day, which will be celebrated in Indonesia starting this year.

The RGS stand became not just an exhibition, but a real window to Russia. Modern technologies have made it possible to show the richness of its nature and culture, which is especially important in the year of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The exhibition, which ran from April 14 to April 15 in the main hall of the university of Indonesia, Universitas Nasional, was seen by more than 1,500 people. Many guests noted that the RGS stand created a desire to visit Russia and get to know its nature and culture better. Also, within the framework of the project, informal negotiations were held with representatives of the Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia, student organizations, and the university faculty.
